LOTU & Heightfields

Today ..posting some old stuff that I found during a harddrive cleanup. Maya have some really cool undiscovered/hidden features. One of them are the Heightfield. Which gives you a fast preview of your displaced mesh. Here I use a combination of ramp and 2D noise to generate this almost alien landscape. Very useful as basic setup for epic mattepainting.

More landscaping... another pet project for LOTU (Legends Of The Underground : ) this time an Angelic Garden for Demi Gods . Some breakdowns of the layers. I really enjoyed the project unfortunately this project didn't receive the publicity and budget to grow into it's full potentials.

Old man V14

I know he start to looks like John Lock from Lost.. But he's not..:)

Found a nice sculpture from Cody Swanson, really like the eye brow area and the soul in this sculpt :

Audi S5

Nice Glossy reflection thanks to Mia_material_x with reflect interpolate on:

Shading/lighting test of the most beautiful coupe of this moment Audi S5 .
Should have finish the other zbrush models. Can't focus on one project at the time. Always get inspired. As a result rendering. I've been modelling cars since Truespace but make it photoreal car and put it in a photoreal environment is as always a personal goal.
I'm heavily inspired by DD's Saab Transformer :

Hangar will be added later. This is my rendertest.Camera animation needs more work kind of rough and linear now. Somehow youtube refuse to encode my .mov files to 100%. The end is always skipped for some strange reason. Maybe I should try other formats:

Still have the asian features. Must get the asian out of my mind. I think it's the eyes and the cheekbones again? Time to sleep will see tomorrow.

Westerdock 11 Nov 2009

Recently trying some new technique which work out quite nice. Unfortunately white pencil can't give me the intensity in the highlights that I see in other professional artist. Maybe I should try the white conte. Sorry for the bad quality photo's.

Old man facial hair update

Maya hair is kind of handy for facial hair. I start painting follicles as moustache then use the Zbrush movetool to trim and deform the hairs.
