Day 6: Look development

Trying to find the right pose and look for this female head. Kind of happy with this in terms of palette and skintones. I've added some skin pore details and wrinkle to visualize the look I want. Biggest challenge is getting the hair comb like this. Lighting should be fairly easy.

Before the paintjob

Just upgraded to Zbrush 4 R2b. Playing around with the FibreMesh features.

Day 5

Update the skull and neck muscles. Improve ear and overal anatomical correctness.

Day 4

I'm trying out two new topology before I adding more details. Nice thing about Topogun is that is has a new morpher system. Which allows u to change ur orginal model and still automaticly update you topology. I found it hard to model the inside of the mouth in mouth close pose. Need to relax and open the mouth so I can detail it and morpgh back to the close one. Here is a WIP.

Day 3

Vray rendertest, borrowed the eyes from Maxime for a quick test.

Quadrapeck

Here I start to model the muscles underneath the skin. A picture of cow anatomy was very useful to check the placement and layout of the muscles. Although the scale and body type is quite different I found it still useful as a reference.

As Mike Corriero mentioned this Quadrapeck is kind of mix of Rhino,Elephant,Yak and some reptilian tail. Proper reference needs to be found in order to have a decent start.

Since Jurassic Park. I've been always a fan of big dinosaurs. Saw this beautiful concept design of Mike Corriero in the Feb 2012 issue of Imagine FX. Fell in love with his Quadrapeck which is basicly a mix of LOTR Oliphants and Giant Hmmerhead Titanothere in Avatar.

This is my interpretation in 3D. Playing around in Dynamesh trying to get the proportion right.

Westerdok 18-01-2012

It's been like six month that I've visit Westerdok. I was afraid that I would be difficult to pick up where I was left. Due to freelance projects and my familie. Making time to draw is a luxury.

10/15 min sessions with Polish model.

Project 144: Save an animal

One of the great things about freelancing is the fact is the wide variety of work.
I finish the modelling and texturing for this dutch TV commercial about a hotline for the public to report urgent cases of animal abuse. The time frame given was 2 weeks production for modelling and texturing 3 animals.

Video Update:

The concept is to make this distorted looking animal appear as real animal in this case a horse. While the camera get closer we start to notice the animal is shaped in the numer 144.

Mudbox layered texturing breakdown of the 144 horse. (Click below for a larger version)

The client demand a ill-looking animal with anatomical correct body. Which turns out to be quite a challenge. Sculpted in Dynamesh.
